Nokia Meego Phones coming soon

After the release of MeeGo based smartphone Nokia N9 in August 2011 Nokia had planned not to use the MeeGo Platform on any of its future handsets since it is partnered with the Microsoft for making Windows Phone as its flagship Os. But many users of Nokia N9 are fascinated even today with the amazing performance delivered by MeeGo. Anyways Nokia has again started to work on the smartphones based on MeeGo Os which is said to potential enough to compete with the Android Smartphones. These smartphones will be budget phones. This project may be referred to the Nokia’s Meltemi project. Recent release of the Nokia’s S40 based Asha smartphones did not contribute much to the selling numbers. So by bringing MeeGo it indicates that Nokia may be replacing its age old S40/Symbian platform with the MeeGo based Meltemi Os.

In the Android & Apple filled smartphone market new platforms from Microsoft, MeeGo and even Mozilla will give a good option for some of the users who are looking for a change.

How does voip and free calling software work?

In this short article i will be explaining briefly about the working of Voip and the free calling softwares.
Technology is evolving drastically in the mobile industry.
Due to the advancement in the carriers from 2G standards to 3G or in the Wifi technology most of the smartphone users are utilizing this service for making free calls. Basically the free calls happen based on the VOIP technology (Voice Over Internet Protocol).

How does Voip work?
VOIP is a revolutionary technology. It is a protocol framed for transmission of text, images, voice and other multimedia signals over the internet. In other words, Voip is a method of converting our voice signals into digital data and transmitting it on the internet using the TCP/IP (Ethernet) protocol. Voip packs the data (data packets) before transmitting them over the internet. With voip you can make call all over the world using internet connection/wifi instead of your service provider’s network. Hence voip has many advantages compared to the traditional phone system like, the call rate are very cheap, most of the times they are free (depends on the source & destinations locations, mode of phone call (pc to pc etc)). Call can be placed using mobile phones, IP Phones, PC and even traditional telephones connected to the Voip adapter called as ATA – Analog Telephone Adapter. As the traditional telephone doesn’t have the Ethernet module inbuilt for digital data transmission so this ATA device helps to overcome this limitation. It basically includes the necessary software and hardware which converts our voice into digital and transmits it over the internet. Voip is also called as Internet telephony or IP telephony and is very helpful for business purposes. Cisco, Nortel, Tesco are some of the manufacturers of IP telephones

How does free calling softwares work?
Softwares like Skype, Viber, Tango are the free calling softwares which can be used on iPhones, Android, Windows Phone and Symbian Os based smartphones. With these software one can make free video/voice calls locally or over a long distance. They can be downloaded freely from the app store or directly from their website. These softwares use the voip technology for making calls. When we place a call using the software app listed above, it actually bypasses the network provider’s service (and its charges) and uses the internet for routing the phones calls. Usually these app providers have a voip server which basically services the clients (phone devices). All the phone calls goes through this server before reaching to the destination.

Features of Snapdragon S4 Processors

Snapdragon CPU’s are high performance CPU’s of Qualcomm. Snapdragon soc model numbers like MSM8260A or MSM8230 are little hard to grasp. So qualcomm has framed a simple protocol for consumers w.r.t its Soc’s (System OChip) for the sake of easy understanding. It has divided its Snapdragon Soc’s into four categories. S1, S2, S3 and S4. S1 being the cheap and low power device whereas S4 is the most powerful device.
SnapDragon S4 soc (MSM8960) is the successor to the Scorpion CPU. S4 soc is based on the new microprocessor architecture called as Krait and it is the second generation CPU from Qualcomm. S4 is well suited processor for high end smartphones and tablets. Let us see what are the new features in this new architecture Krait.

Features of Snapdragon S4 (Krait) Soc:
– first mobile processor to be manufactured using the latest 28nm architecture
– new pipeline architecture increases the performance of krait over 60% compared to the existing qualcomm’s scorpion CPU micro-architecture.
– different configurations available like Single/Dual/Quad core with frequency range from 1.5GHz upto 2.5GHz per core and supports asynchronous symmetric multiprocessing for better performance and power efficiency.
– incase of a dualcore/quadcore the cpu’s are capable to work independently.
– includes dual-channel memory for processor to handle large bandwidth requirements in multicore systems.
– high performance Adreno GPU (Adreno225/ Adreno305) for high quality video and console quality gaming
– advantages like frequency scaling, low power consumption, better thermal performance and smaller size are achieved because of 28nm architecture.
– first fully integrated 2G/3G/4G Modem for fast internet browsing and app downloads. Supports standards like LTE multi mode, HSPA+, CDMA2000 1X, 1xEV-D0 Rel A/B, GSM, GPRS, and EDGE.
– uses ARMv7 Instruction set architecture for advanced process technology.
– Qualcomm’s hexagon DSPs low power engine used for high power efficiency.
– Connectivity options like GPS, Bluetooth4.0 WiFi and FM supported.
– Integrated HDMI v1.4 interface
– Video: HD 1080p, 30fps video playback and streaming

S4 is available in the following Qualcomm products:
APQ8064, APQ8060A, MSM8960, MSM8660A, MSM8260A, APQ8030, MSM8930, MSM8630, MSM8230, MSM8627, MSM8227, MSM8625, MSM8225
