Lava’s first Android v4.2 tablet to be priced under Rs 10k, coming to stores by first week of May

Lava Mobiles is currently working on the successor of its highly popular Xtron Tablet. The new tablet will be the first tablet from a local brand to feature the Android v4.2 Jelly Bean.

The tablet will be officially announced next week and is expected to be named under the Lava’s E Tab Xtron series. The speculated price tag for this tablet is below Rs 10,000 and will most probably be available for purchase starting from the first week of May in India.

In the specs sheet the Lava’s upcoming tablet will come with a 1.5-GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (expandable), a 2-mega pixel rear shooter on the back, VGA quality front facing camera, Wi-Fi only, HDMI and 3,700 mAh battery fitted inside.
Similar to E Tab Xtron the new tablet may have a 7 inch display and mayn’t come with the voice calling facility. More news in coming days.

Android malware hits the Google Play again, BadNews behind it

Google Play store the ocean filled with android apps has been hit with a latest malware called BadNews which is present in 32 apps. LookOut a security firm is the one who identified and reported to Google for removal of these malicious software apps. But before its removal the applications has been already downloaded between 2,000,000 – 9,000,000 times. Currently Google has removed these apps from the store and suspended the developer accounts associated with them. The android users in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia and Kazakhstan are affected from this malware.

Once activated the software starts sending the critical information like the phone number, imei number etc to the server periodically (spyware). And then the server responds with a notification to the user to update the app in the name of skype or Russian social network Vkontakte. The url for this update will actually lead to the download of AlphaSMS fraud app which is famous for stealing the cash from the user by sending premium rate text messages.

Micromax Funbook 3G now available at online stores in India under Rs 9k

Latest tablet from Micromax named as Funbook 3G (P 560) is now available for purchase at the various online retail stores in the country.
MMX Funbook 3G p560 ships with a 7 Inch TFT LCD display with capacitive touchscreen. The resolution of this display is 800 x 480 pixels.
MMX P560 is running on the Android 4.0.4 ICS OS platform powered by Qualcomm’s 1GHz processor (MSM7227-A SOC) and Adreno 200 graphics core for better gaming experience. Sitting beside the chipset is the 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal memory which can be further expanded upto 32GB via micro SD card slot.

The advantage of the P560 tablet is its 3G SIM support from which the user can not only place the voice calls but can also browse the internet on 3G network away from home. The calling tablet also supports GPRS/EDGE, Wifi, Bluetooth and USB port. There are two camera on this tablet, 2MP at the back and a 0.3MP front facing camera.

P560 Funbook 3G is 10.6mm thick and weighs around 323grams including the 3000mAh battery. The battery offers around 5hrs of talk time and 160hrs of standby time.

Google’s Motorola X phone release date pushed to August?

If you are one of the millions fans who are eagerly waiting for the World’s first Android 5.0 powered device the Motorola X smartphone then your waiting period may get extended as some of the internet sources say that the Search Engine Giant has apparently delayed the release date of the smartphone to August.

Initially the Google’s Motorola X smartphone was expected to get unveiled at the annual Google I/O event on May 15th. But now the rumors suggests that the company is not impressed with the early prototypes which may result in re designing or making some minor changes to the device hence leading to the delay.

The specs of Motorola X smartphone includes a 4.7inch Full HD display with sapphire glass screen for the ultimate scratch resistance, Qualcomm’s 2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor alongwith a massive battery of 4000mAh.

Google Nexus 7 (32GB) with 3G & Wifi support to come soon in ASUS retail outlets in India

Last week Google had official started taking the pre orders for Nexus 7(16 GB, Wifi) variant on Google play store for Rs 15,999 and now ASUS has made the announcement to sell the Nexus 7 (32GB) Wi-Fi and 3G variant (with SIM Slot) in India with the price tag of Rs 18,999 and 21,999 respectively in its outlets. Alongwith the ASUS stores the tablet can also be purchased from the local vendors like CROMA and Vijay. The tablet is expected to be available in these stores by next week.

All the Nexus 7 variants come with similar specification. Google Asus Nexus 7 features a 7-inch Crystal clear IPS HD display of resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, 216 ppi density. The device runs on android JellyBean v4.1 that can be upgraded to JellyBean v4.2.2. The display is protected from scratch resistant Corning’s Gorilla glass.
The devices is powered by 1.3 Ghz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor with 1 GB RAM.
The additional features include 1.2 MP front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC (for Android Beam) and a massive 4325 mAh battery. The dimensions of the device are 198.5 x 120 x 10.5 mm and it weighs 340 grams. The only disadvantage of both these variant is no microSD card slot is provided for memory expansion.

Google has listed the Nexus 7(16GB) variant on the Google Play Store but one has to purchase 32GB Wi-fi and 3G variant from retail partners of Asus. We hopefully see these two device soon on the giant google store.
For 16GB variant the shipping may begin from April 5th.
