The first quarter of this year has seen a very stiff battle between the Indian brands. As soon as the Micromax released its first Quad Core smartphone the A116 Canvas HD the other local brands also started to launch their Quad Core devices into the market which includes Lava’s Xolo Q800, WickedLeak’s Wammy Titan 2, Karbonn Titanium S5, Intex Aqua Wonder.
And the latest to join this list is the S Mobility’s Spice Stellar Pinnacle Pro (Mi 535). Apart from being a Quad Core devices all these smartphones have one more thing common between them and that is the affordable price tag.
Spice Stellar Pinnacle Pro is the successor of the Stellar Pinnacle Mi 530. There are very few differences between these two devices with major ones including the android version and the number of cores.
But when the Pinnacle Pro is compared with the MMX Canvas HD then we can find numerous differences between the two. Since both the devices fall in the same price range so it would be amazing to see what differences they bring out.
In this article we will explore these differences in detail based on the specifications only.
Spice Mi 535 Stellar Pinnacle Pro vs Micromax A116 Canvas HD
Both the android smartphones feature the Jelly Bean version but the Canvas HD comes with the Android v4.1.2 and the Mi 535 with the v4.2. There are no major differences between the two JB versions but the Pinnacle Pro users will get the advantages of having an improved notification bar, smarter keyboard, improved camera application and increased quality and performance of the Os.
Currently the MMX A116 users may miss these features but the company has already mentioned that it will be providing the JB v4.2 upgrade soon in the future. (Read Here)
If the internal software features are to be counted then the Spice Pinnacle Pro is intelligent enough to have the Pop-up play, Flip to Mute, Intelligent Answer, Direct Call, Gesture Screen Lock, Hi Connect, Boot Acceleration and Power Saving Mode which the Canvas HD doesn’t have.
With the extra & useful features on board this section clearly is in favor of the A116’s competitor Spice Mi 535.
Both the Phablets come with a huge screen size. Canvas HD has a 5 inch HD display of resolution 1280 x 720pixels while the Pinnacle Pro has little bigger 5.3″ qHD display with 960 x 540 pixels. The pixel density of the A116 is 295 which is quite impressive as compared to the Mi 535’s 208 PPI.
Already the Canvas HD has received many thumbs up for its crisp and clear image quality from the reviewers across the country.
But the Pinnacle Pro’s pixel resolution and PPI could be a let down when compared to its massive screen size. Since there is no change in the display unit of the Mi 535 (same as Mi 530) so it would be worth mentioning here that the Mi 530 has received not very good marks for its display.
Definitely in this section Canvas HD will score the points.
Processor & Memory:
Both the devices are powered by 1.2GHz Quad Core processor. Canvas HD houses the MediaTek chipset. Its not clear which chipset does the Pinnacle Pro comes with but it is expected to be the same Soc as that of the Canvas HD. So in practical there wouldn’t be much difference in the performance section between the two.
Major difference in the memory area is the internal storage capacity. Spice gives the benefit for having a 16GB inbuilt storage of which the user can access upto 12GB whereas the Canvas HD has a 4GB in which the user accessible area is mere 1.75GB only. User can compensate the shortage of the memory with the microSD card slot expandable upto 32GB on both.
Camera & Battery:
Spice has packed the Pinnacle Pro with a 8MP rear camera with Dual Flash and auto focus feature. The dual Flash would ensure the user for a better snaps in the in doors. This camera can record the videos upto 720p HD quality videos. Also this smartphones comes with a massive 5MP front facing camera which would help in video chatting on the 3G network. Be informed that the Pinnacle Pro comes with Dual SIM functionality with 3G + 3G combination.
On the other hand the rival MMX A116 has a 8MP rear camera with AF and LED flash capable of recording HD videos and a 2MP front camera for the video calling on the free calling softwares.
In the battery section the Canvas HD comes with a 2000mAh and is expected to offer a mere 5Hours of talk time. Similarly the Stellar Pinnacle Pro which has a 2550mAh battery also offers a 4hours of talktime only. Nothing more to add in this section.
Price & Availability:
Micromax Canvas HD was released on Feb 14th and is busy selling right from that day till today. Its hard to find this device “In Stock” in most of the online retail stores across the country.
Spice Pinnacle Pro unleashed last week and is available at the Saholic for Rs 14,990.
Both the devices comes with Pros and Cons. The Cons could be obvious as these devices come under the budget section. Spice Pinnacle Pro has the advantage of its software features, camera options and memory segment. Whereas the Canvas HD display, beautiful design outshines with its competitors.
The limitations on both the devices is the battery segment. Anyways if you are looking for a cheaper version of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 like smartphone with quad core processor then Pinnacle Pro could be the ideal choice else the hot selling Canvas HD is waiting for you.
