Upcoming smartphones from Micromax – May 2013

Micromax is utilizing the android platform at its best by providing the users with smartphones supporting latest features at an affordable price tag. The Indian Company has already sold more than 1 million units of its Canvas Smartphones which includes the last year’s Canvas 2 A110, this year’s Canvas HD A116 and Canvas Viva A72. Due to the huge demand most of the times these smartphones were spotted as out of stock at many local online retail shops.
Looking at this huge success the leading domestic smartphone maker has aggressively lined up similar/more powerful smartphones into the Indian Market in coming days.

Last month MMX launched Canvas Viva and Canvas 3D. This month also the company is expected to unleash couple of smartphones with impressive specs under its Canvas series. This article will be covering the list of upcoming smartphones from Micromax and will be updated as and when the news of new smartphone arrives. Be advised, some of the below information is purely based on rumors.

1. Micromax Canvas A110Q

MMX Canvas A110Q is expected to be the successor of Canvas 2 A110. Major difference between the two handsets would be in the HW section. The letter ‘q’ in A110 indicates that this smartphone will come with a Quad Core processor unlike the dual core power of its predecessor.
Sources say that the revamped smartphone will be powered by the 1.2GHz Cortex A7 Quad Core processor from MediaTek chipset (MT6589) which also could include the PowerVR SGX544 graphics core. It is the same chipset which is used in many budget quad core smartphones like Micromax Canvas HD, Lava Xolo Q800, Q700.
Canvas A110Q will sport a 5inch display with 480×854 resolution and 196ppi, android 4.2 Os, 1GB RAM, 4GB on board memory, 12MP rear and a 2MP front facing camera. Currently there is no information on the release date, price and availability. Expected price could be below Rs 15k.

Update: Micromax Sources ahve confirmed that “Micromax Canvas Pro HD A120 is just a rumour and the company is not working on any such device”.

2. Micromax Canvas Pro HD A120

If rumors are to be believed then the successor of the Canvas HD named as Micromax Canvas Pro HD A120 will come with a 5 inch Full HD display, 2GHz Quad Core processor running on android v4.2.1 aka Jelly Bean, 2GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, micro SD card support upto 64GB. The dual SIM Phablet will have a 3000mAh battery capacity, Wifi, bluetooth, micro USB. Canvas HD Pro is expected to cost under Rs 17K. The official release date is yet to be known.
