Asus launches Intel powered 7-inch Fonepad in India with 3G SIM support for Rs 15999

Nexus 7 maker ASUS has officially launched its much-awaited 7-inch Fonepad in India for Rs 15,999 (appx $300, EURO 225). The price of the FonePad is inline with the Nexus 7 (without 3G support) which was released few days back in the country. USP of the FonePad is its 3G supported SIM slot which gives it a mobile phone functionality where the user can surf the web, make phone calls.

ASUS FonePad comes with a beautiful design with a metallic back cover and it weighs similar to the Nexus 7 tablet with 340grams. It comes with a 7″ WXGA IPS capacitive touchscreen display with LED backlight. The resolution of the is 1280×800 pixels and supports upto 10 point multi-touch.
The differentiating feature of this tablet when compared to others is its processor, 1.2Ghz Intel Atom Z2420 (Singel Core) running on the android v4.1 Jelly Bean (upgradable to android v4.2). There is 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and a 32GB capacity micro SD card slot.

The Asus Fonepad comes with dual camera, a 3 megapixel rear camera with 1080p recording and a 1.2 megapixel front camera. The battery power of the tablet is 4270 mAh of type Li- Polymer.

ASUS FonePad was first unveiled at the MWC 2013 and from then the tablet is released in Malaysia and Taiwan. It is expected to be launched in Singapore on April 27th for S$369 via SingTel, Starhub and M1 telcos outlets with offers on data plan. This tablet will also be soon available in many other countries in the coming days.

Currently the competitors for the ASUS FonePad would be the HCL ME Y3, Lava E-Tab Connect Z7C and the Nexus 7 (3G variant – 21,999).
