The Pico projector smartphone Samsung Galaxy Beam codenamed as GT-I8530 is priced at Rs 29900 (appx $520) in India. The Galaxy Beam is available for pre-orders at the Samsung India e-store. The smartphone was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress held in Spain in the month of February 2012.
Its powerful 15 Lumen Pico Projector is one of the highlighted feature without which this phone would be an usual android smartphone. Beam can project movies, images, presentation on walls upto 50inch wide and that is why the handset is packed with a powerful battery of capacity 2000mAh to last long. The phone is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor running on the older Android 2.3 Gingerbread version. Its RAM size of 768MB may qualify it to receive an ICS update in future but its not confirmed. The smartphone has a 4inch WVGA touchscreen, 8GB of internal memory expandable upto 32GB using microSD card. It is also embeds 5MP rear camera with LED flash and 1.3MP front camera for video calling on the 3G network.
Galaxy beam will be available from first week of July in UK and subsequently it will be also released in India but there is no official announcement made until now. The price of Samsung Galaxy Beam seems to be little costlier compared to its features.
