HTC has published an updated list of smartphones available for upgrade from Gingerbread to Icecream Sandwich alongwith the time schedule. Some of the phones in the list have already got the Android 4.0 but many are still in the line. According to HTC, the ICS roll out for all the listed phones will be completed by end of July and the upgrade process will be completed by the end of August.
To check for upgrade manually user can navigate to Settings>About>Software Updates. Upgrade to Android 4.0 will be having HTC Sense 3.6 and while upgrading it is recommended to use Wifi instead of GSM network for fast update as the file size is more than 300MB and may take long time for the upgrade.
HTC has also announced that, devices with 512MB ROM or less will not be upgraded to Android 4.0.
These devices include the HTC ChaCha, HTC Salsa, HTC Wildfire S, HTC Explorer, and others.
HTC tablets, including the HTC Flyer, HTC EVO View 4G, and HTC Jetstream, will remain on their current Android version (Honeycomb). But this doesn’t mean that these devices will not get the necessary software improvements, security fixes, and technical support as needed. It’s just the hardware capability which stops these devices from getting Android 4.0 version.
