Last week Lava has released Xolo X900 Android Smartphone which will be world’s first Intel inside smartphone. Currently most of the smartphone manufacturing companies use ARM based chipsets like Snapdragon S4 processor but Lava’s X900 will be the first smartphone which will be powered by Intel’s Medfield platform. Medfield is a Soc built on Intel Atom Processor. It supports x86 processor instruction set architecture and it is mainly developed for smartphones and tablets. Intel has partnered with Google in 2011 to produce Intel x86 processors for Android Operating System. With this move Intel will be competing with the other giant Soc maker like Texas Instruments (OMAP Soc), Samsung (Exynos Soc), Qualcomm (Snapdragon Soc)and Nvidia (Tegra Soc). It is said that this processor is more power efficient and more powerful to handle Android Ginger bread Os smoothly. Still many devices from other cell phone manufacturers are lined up for the next half of this year featuring Medfield chipsets in them.
